A Day Of Fun and Learning....

Today we had such a fun filled event packed day! We have been trying to plan several different things on the calendar and they all happened to fall or fit into today! So we started off our adventure with a family trip to the donut shop! Our kids LOVE donuts as I am sure most kids do, but we rarely go to the donut shop. As we entered the donut shop Lillian yelled most enthusiastically “DONUTS”!!!! Every eye turned in her direction and she of course ran for the case filled with donuts! Her dream had come true!

Then we headed off to the Holland Rescue Mission. As part of our “Others Day” we were trying to get an understanding of what the Holland Mission offers to our community and how we might be able to help with that. Can I just say we have an OUTSTANDING Rescue Mission. I was totally amazed with all that they do for people and how far they go to get people back on there feet! WOW. If you have a local mission try to get involved. Hopefully you will be as lucky as we are to have such a great organization to support! It was very interesting to watch Corban and Carson as the leader discussed why people end up at the mission and what they do. A real eye opener for our children. She walked us through and gave us a lot of things we could do to help! The kids have come up with some great ideas and we will be working on these in the coming months!

Then we came home for a quick lunch and the big surprise of the day! We have a been blessed with an awesome new babysitter this year! Troy’s mom gave us the number of a girl that was going to be attending Hope College and used to baby sit a lot back home. Well, she has been great and our kids adore her! She brought Christmas presents for the kids and has really shown her love for them! SO anyway, she plays basketball for Hope and we have been wanting to take the boys to see her play! So because we have been really working on encouragement in our house Troy suggested they make some signs of encouragement for Molly when she plays basketball. So they sat right up to the counter and got them made. We attached sticks and promised we would give them to her next Sunday when she comes to baby sit.

We headed out to take Lilly to a friends house and the boys were waiting and guessing trying to figure out where we were headed! Finally Carson put it together when he realized we had brought the signs for Molly with us. So, Yes indeed, we were headed to the DeVos Field House to watch her play! I was praying there wouldn’t be too many people, simply because our kids are little and that can be hard. Well no worries, because she is a freshman and playing JV it wasn’t too busy. This fact made it easy for her to hear Carson screaming “HI MOLLY” over and over! Hopefully we weren’t too distracting to her. They have a very good basketball team and the game was great! The boys surprised me and were entertained with the game through the entire thing! They actually wanted to stay and watch the Varsity, but we had to get back and get Lillian!

Well you can’t end a date with the boys without food, so we stopped for Sundae’s at McDonalds! They were very excited and had a great time with us! It was a very busy day, but a very fun day! I love watching them grow and show interest in helping others. It is also so nice to start to experience new things with them! I look forward to going to more games as a family!

Here are a few pics from our day:
Here the boys are with the signs they made!  Still clueless as to where we are headed!!!

They are so excited to watch the game that they wouldn't even look at me!

Carson held the sign for the first half, most of the time it was up in the air and he was shouting "Go, Molly"!  Love it!

They gave out Hope Pom Poms, so we had fun with them during half time!

A self portrait of all of us!

Our end to a great date with the boys!
