2010 Hauch Family Goals

FAMILY GOALS
“Others Day” - Having one day a month where we focus on what we can do for others and less about ourselves! I was so proud of Corban who came up with this and said it should be a new holiday! He is so inventive and sweet!
Patience - all way around! This seems to keep making the list! We need to continue to practice this more and more!
Edification - I so believe that the first place you should be built up is at home! So I want to be purposeful in making my kids know how awesome God made them and what amazing things He has planned for their lives!
Family Devotions and Scripture Memorization - almost a year ago we started blocking out one night a week for homemade pizza and game night! The kids LOVE this, so we are going to start every family game night this year with a family devotion! This way we won’t miss it because life got busy which has been the case in the past! We are also going to start memorizing one verse a month as a family. It really isn’t much, but the kids are already memorizing scripture for church and ones I pick out for them!
First Time Obedience - We have this for each of the kids and they know why, but I felt like it should also be on our list. Troy and I need to become better at doing what God asks us to do the first time. This last year He has asked us to do some things that were scary for us, but what joy we saw after we did what He asked! So this year we are going to try to listen the first time and hang on tight after that!

TROY
More time alone with God
Finishing leftover little tasks
Catch up on some unfinished books and read others that I've wanted too, but have sat on the shelf.
Maybe less TV time would help with that.
Eat Less Sweets
Workout 3x week

MICHELLE
Read A Book a Month - this has been a practice for me, but last year I let it slip big time! What a crazy year, so I am making the decision to make it happen again this year!
Catch Up The Kids Baby Books - Yes it’s pathetic. I have all the info on random calendars I have saved, but not in the book, so let this be the year I complete the task!
More Running! Complete 5k, 10k, and 15k! - last spring I started running here and there. I ran my first 5k since high school and found what a stress relief it is to run. I love what it does for me, so this year I am going to run farther! I have a friend who said she would commit with me, so here goes! I would like to eventually run a ½ marathon, but not sure with three kids I can get all the training in that I would need to this year. So if not this year then next year I will complete that!
Continue Spinning - Last May a friend and I started this spinning class. Mostly because we thought we couldn’t do it. Plus it is more fun to be tortured when you know someone else it being tortured, so we did it together! I LOVE IT! I can usually only go once a week because of our schedules, but what a difference this class has made for me!
Twice A Month Date Nights - Yes this has to be a to do or it doesn’t happen. Life seems to go really fast and the time flies and we find we have had little time together! So this year we will be scheduling these to make sure they happen! If you have interest in babysitting just let me know!!!
More Disciplined With My Quiet Time - Before I started working at night it was easy to always get up and complete this before the kids got up. I now struggle some mornings to get this in, so I need to make sure this is happening! The family goals will be much easier if I get this in!

CARSON
First Time Obedience - yes we are still working on this! All the kids have this on their list, which I am sure most kids have this on their list!
Stop Thumb Sucking - This is going to be difficult, but we must tackle it! He LOVES his thumb so much and it has become such a comfort to him. I am not sure how we are going to tackle this, but we must!
Less Negotiating/Badgering - Does it need explaining? Carson is so good at negotiating to get his way. He follows me around and repeatedly asks for whatever he wanted. Over and over, I call it badgering, so we would like this to stop.

CORBAN
Having More Self Control - Corban has come so far in the last year with his self control, but I am not sure we are ready to take it off the list. He still needs to continue to improve on making good decisions and practicing self control!
First Time Obedience - again it’s a must! He is doing better, but still needs improvement!
Be a Child - Corban for some reason often thinks he is with Mom and Dad and he is helping to raise Carson and Lillian. Nope not the case. Troy and I are doing fine with being the parents, so we just need Corban to be the child!
Becoming a Better Reader - Corban has come so far in his reading, but would like to get better. He wants to be able to take a chapter book and go read without any help! So he will continue practicing and get there I am sure!

LILLIAN
Potty Trained - YES this is the year our house will become diaper free!!!!! I can hardly stand it! No more diaper bag for us!!!!! Lilly is already starting to show interest so I am sure by this summer we will be well on our way!
First Time Obedience - Yes even Lillian! She loves to do her own thing, so we are trying to start making sure we are listening the first time we are asked!
