On May 21st we had the pleasure of walking with the MS Society for the MS Walk 2011. I have gleaned so much information from the MS Society in the past few months and loved that we could, as a whole family, come to support people with MS in Michigan. So with some money raised and ready to walk three miles we came for a morning of fun!
I must admit I was a bit nervous about going simply because I have been pretty good at not thinking to much about where I could end up with MS. I knew that this would be a quick reality of where many people end up with MS. While the weekend before this I ran in the 5/3 Riverbank run and it was everyone for themselves and all about being fast. This walk was about so much more. It wasn't about speed, but rather finishing. So amongst the walkers, wheelchairs, power chairs, and various other equipment we went on a beautiful walk through a college campus in downtown Grand Rapids. It was rather warm and this easy walking three miles proved to be more difficult than running six the week before. Who knew?
So here are a few of the pictures along the way. I am so very blessed to have Troy's parents in my life. They have been a tremendous support through everything. They had an incredibly busy weekend, but they still made it a priority to come walk with us to support me. It means so much to have people who love me and are willing to support me like that. So thank you for all you have done for us and all the prayers you continue to pray for me and our whole family. You are the best!
Ready to walk!
