Chicago!

We have been saving our pennies in hopes of making a trip to Chicago.  The kids have been picking up rocks for money to spend in Chicago!  Well, we made our first trip and I must say these three kids did amazing!  I was a little nervous as we wouldn't have a place for naps and it would require a lot of walking.

We were all so excited to go!  We left very early in the morning and drove down to Michigan City, IN where we caught the train and rode that all the way into Chicago!  As you can see from the pictures the kids were super excited to ride the train!!!

When we arrived in Chicago it was pretty foggy, but the kids could still see several tall buildings and were in shock and awe for some time!  The temperature was perfect and the walk from the train to the aquarium was so pretty!

Our first destination was the Shed Aquarium.  We spent several hours at the aquarium and still didn't see everything.  We will be going back soon to see more that the aquarium has to offer.  We started off by watching one of the shows they had.  It was fun!

We got to touch several different things!

One of the favorite spots was the penguins.  The pictures of the actual penguins didn't turn out that great.

I think the favorite spot for the day was the jellies!

The kids were excited to find a pout pout fish!  If you haven't read this book, it is a must!

Our final trip was to the Lego store.  I have three little troopers!  I underestimated just how far it was from the aquarium to the Lego store.  Once we got back home we found it was just under three miles!  They did great.  We went to where the Lego store was and found that it had moved.  Luckily it was only about four blocks away from where we were so we made it!  This is what the boys were saving their money for so it was very important that we find it!

Our final picture before leaving!  The kids were exhausted.  Carson asked if he could fall asleep when we were on the train headed home.  I told him he could and it was seconds later that he was asleep.  He was sleeping so hard that we had to carry him off the train.

We had  a great time and are looking forward to going back soon!

  1. Wow! Sounds like you had a great trip. Little troopers ona and all, good thing you keep them in shape. We made that same trip once with our youngest two and our Ohio relatives. We visited the Aquarium and the History Museum.

  2. Sounds super fun! I think riding the train would be great. I rode from Ann Arbor to Chicago once to visit a roomie. Our kids have never been but we will need to add it to the list.
