A little muscle, some sweat, and lots of motivation.

Last summer when we came to look at the house we are now living in, it didn't look to appealing.  The house has a front porch and a couple of large windows, but these giant pushes are so overgrown you can't walk on the porch or see the front of the house.

Before moving in the bushes were cut down, but we were willing to try and make it look a little better so it began!  What do you think, is it a transformation?  I love having flowers and keeping things looking green!

before any work...

this spring with stumps from the bushes and lots of rocks.
it doesn't look like that many rocks, but belive me it is.  We moved them all by hand and my goodness I was happy when we were done with that.
one last picture before we get started.  It was very straight and boring.
Rocks removed, dirt ready for tarp and planting!  Getting closer!
one more with dirt...we expanded the beds, trying to add some character.
Plants all in and rocks put back!!!
 A big improvement!

What do you think?  Is it better?
I can't write all this and not say thank you to Troy's parents.  Troy's mom was here while I was removing rocks and she got right in there and helped! Not a fun job, but it was fun doing it together!  They also came and helped finalize the edging and planting everything!  Also all the plants except the boxwoods, grass, and hosta's came from their gardens!  Thanks!  We couldn't of done it without you.
