Corban's First 5k!

Every year the community of Borculo does a spoof on the Tulip Time Festival!  It is nice because it is much smaller.  The kids love it because they still throw candy during the parade!  I must say it is somewhat hillbilly!  Where else do they close down the main highway for a parade filled with tractors and horses!  With all that said, I love it!  You don't really have to worry about your kids hearing to many inappropriate words.  Everyone's family is out and they are all excited to see the little ones!  It really is a nice community and a nice festival!

Well Saturday morning always begins with a 5k!  Basically you run down and back.  Part is gravel and part is paved!  There is always a few very serious runners, but the rest are from the community!  Lots of kids run/walk this!  Corban has expressed lots of interest in running!  He is always having me time him while he runs around the house!  So because we had a good call for rain that day only Troy and Corban decided to run.  Corban was so excited to have his dad running with him!  They had so much fun and he did amazing!  He ran about a mile before he needed to walk!  Now this kid has been running/walking about 1.5 miles at recess for milage club, so this was great!  He finished with a time of 32:55!  He did great and definately has a gift for running! He was so excited about it and can't wait to run again! This year he will get to participate in field day the last week of school! He will love it!
